Rush 'Snakes and Arrows' CD
After what seems eternity since their last studio album, Vapor Trails, was released, we are blessed with a new album. It has been a long stretch since we have seen a studio album with new material but that's typical for them because ever since I started listening to them they have always took their time to put another album together.
For example, it took them 5 years after Test for Echo to release their next album Vapor Trails. Most people probably would have said 'That's a long time' but most people do not know unless they know about the band is why it took them 5 years to release it. Shortly after Test for Echo, Neil Pert lost both his wife and daughter within the same year. I lost my dad 2 yrs ago so I do know a little what Neil Pert went thru but man losing two people you love is tough.
Now lets talk about their new album which is why I am writing this post. The first thing I can say after listening to the whole album is AWESOME because of both the song writing and music playing. The song writing was A-typical as usual for Neil Pert but I personally believe this ones is outdoes anything they have do so far. Songs like Faithless which every time I hear it makes me smile for some reason are a typical example of how Neil Pert writes.
A good example of music playing is that the guys actually put 3 instrumentals on this CD. How many bands would dare to put 3 instrumentals on their album? It helps being around for over thirty years.
As I said above that they like to take awhile between albums and I do believe that it has helped them to stay together for so long. This day and age I am not sure how many groups you can say that have been around for 30 years and still sound good.
