Story and Rant

I would like to start my telling a story of the incident that got my temper boiling so much that I am taking some relief my posting here.

     As most of you all know I work at a certain electronics store here in Austin where this incident happened. I was making signs like I usually due on Tuesday since that when our add usually ends and a customer came up to the podium.  He asked me if I could answer some questions about personal voice recorders that we carry over in the Telecom department.  I tried my best to answer the question until he more or less said that he was going to use them to tape something so that he can then turn around and sell it.  I said to him, "you know that's illegal right?" which he replied "Its not in Africa where I will be taking these."

     He then proceeded to tell me how we buys movies here and then dubs them to sell where he is lives.  About this time, I have heard enough and wanted this customer to leave my department before I do something I did not want to do.  Thankfully, he decided to leave at that point so I did not have to do anything I would later regret.

<BEGIN RANT>

I understand that people sometimes do not want to pay for something such as software,movies and other things like that.  Some will tell you in a straight face, "That's what the Internet is for!", which there right if you know where to look.  I understand that its wrong and it is stealing.  I am one of these people that I am talking about but the difference in what I am talking about here and the story above is at least I do not openly tell people, "Hey look, I pirate <whatever u want here> and I will sell it when I get back home where I live."

Yes, I know overseas is where most of the pirating is done because they do not have the laws to go after them.  Just fly to Hong Kong area and you probably can find anything U want cheap.  Just remember that even though it might look legit, it probably is not.

I guess what is getting most me the most pissed is the audacity of the customer admitting blatant theft.

Am I condoning pirating?? No, even though most of the software on my machine I do not own because I could not afford it.  I am not excusing the theft just simply stating the fact.  If I could make enough to pay for it, I would because I do believe that people need to be paid.

<END RANT>

Well, until next time I do hope that you have a blessed wonderful day and God bless you and things that you do.
